We started homeschooling in the 3rd grade, which is why you will not find any resources for lower grades.
However, if you follow our posts for other grades, you will find resources that we used year after year.
So, if you have a 1st grader, I would suggest Math U See for math, BJU Press for English and Writing, etc.
Click the links below to see other grades or continue to scroll for our 3rd and 4th grade resources and projects.

3rd Grade Resources
As I mentioned earlier, we began homeschooling in the 3rd grade. Unfortunately, I did not keep lesson plans for this grade or the 4th.
I started blogging during their 5th year and had no idea how useful the lesson plans would become for other homeschoolers looking for resources.
Using my sons’ transcripts, I was able to remember some of the resources and have listed them below.
- English/Writing/Language Arts – English 3 by BJU Press
- Spelling – Spelling 3 by BJU Press
- Mathematics – Math U See [have your student take their placement test to determine which level workbooks your children should start with].
- Science – Click here to see how we put this together in our homeschool.
- History – I don’t remember which resource we used; however, for 4th grade, we found the Story of the World Curriculum by Susan Wise Bauer, and we wish we had found it sooner for this grade. My recommendation is to start with Volume 1: Ancient Times.
- Classical Literature – We used Confessions of a Homeschooler’s Classical Literature Lapbook Packs, Volume 1; the following books that accompany this resource can be purchased on Amazon:
- Spanish – Elementary Spanish Workbook by Cynthia Downs
- Cursive – Zaner Bloser Handwriting Workbook
- And finally, our all-in-one resource for most of the subjects above: Notebooking Pages Lifetime Membership
Now, a few of these resources continued into the 4th grade. One thing I learned about homeschooling is that you don’t have to finish every resource you use. This allowed us to take our time and master their learning.
